The dramatic black ground is embellished with finely rendered gilt Chinoiserie imagery depicting flowering branches, graceful birds, waterfowl, reeds, foliage, and an atmospheric Asian-inspired landscape.

At the center is a substantial beveled rectangular mirror, surrounded by a refined gilt metal frame that gives the piece its unmistakable Hollywood Regency presence. The combination of glossy black glass, luminous gilded decoration, and the architectural form of the frame makes this an especially striking decorative statement.
