Handcrafted from a massive, thick-walled calabash gourd, the bowl features highly intricate, deeply etched geometric pyrography patterns surrounding a central geometric motif. The open side is fitted with an authentic animal hide membrane stretched tight and stitched to the interior rim via thick leather binding. Ringed with suspended natural cowrie shells that act as an acoustic rattle when shaken or struck, this large drum serves beautifully as an organic bohemian design statement piece, global accent decor, or a rich, resonant addition to a world music instrument collection.
