Matched two-piece “Cleopatra” glass ensemble designed by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien for Kosta Boda, comprising a tall carafe vase and a large footed bowl. Both pieces combine transparent glass with smoky aubergine-purple trails and applied dark glass snakes.
The fine horizontal bands create a regular graphic pattern, contrasted by the snakes winding freely around the vessels. The snake coils several times around the carafe’s narrow body, while on the bowl it follows the broad rim and raises its head above the edge.
Introduced in 1989, Cleopatra features one of Hydman-Vallien’s most characteristic motifs. The Swedish artist was known for bringing expressive images of snakes, faces, flowers and human figures to Kosta Boda glass. Both pieces are signed and belong to the Kosta Boda Artist Collection.
The carafe can also be used as a vase, while the footed bowl works as a centrepiece or decorative vessel. The two pieces are offered together as a matched set.
