an imposing two-part buffet in carved wood, featuring a particularly rich architectural style inspired by the italian renaissance.

the upper section opens with two large glazed doors, framed by abundant high-relief carving: foliate scrolls, volutes, mascarons, human figures, fantastical creatures, and animal motifs.

the uprights are also carved, with full-length and draped figures.

the upper frieze bears two particularly decorative cartouches, inscribed “anno” and “1634.”

this date is a remarkable decorative element.

the piece is a later example of historicist production, drawing on 17th-century models.

the lower section, also highly ornate, features drawers adorned with ringed mascarons, and two large doors with heavily molded geometric panels.

each panel features a prominent carved relief motif at its center.

the uprights and lower rail continue the decoration of figures, foliage, fantastical animals, and scrolling foliage.

the reverse side, of much simpler construction, presents large panels assembled on rails, contrasting with the exuberance of the front.
