Antique adjustable desk lamp featuring a warm, aged brass body and rich green Verdelite glass shade. The design is anchored by a broad, stepped circular base supporting a slender vertical standard with a ring finial. A horizontal brass arm intersects the standard and curves into an elevated loop before descending to the socket and conical shade. The arm can tilt upward or downward and slide forward or backward, allowing the position and cast of the light to be adjusted. Additional details include a Bryant socket with turn-key switch, brass shade fitter, and exposed power cord.
Faries Manufacturing Co. was organized in Decatur in 1894 by inventor Robert Faries and became known for adjustable electric-lighting fixtures, lamp holders, and other metal specialties.
