Fiberglass
1950s atomic era metal tripod fiberglass-shaded lamp. The rounded top saucer shade attaches to the framework of the bottom portion of the lamp by three metal hairpin legs. The fiberglass shades are avocado green with brown and gold painted background and wheat stalks. The lamp neck surrounding the light socket below is matching fiberglass. The top shade is laced with gold vinyl. An on/off rotary switch is located beneath the light socket on the lamp's bottom. It has the original cord and plug.
This fiberglass Mid-Century Modern lamp reflects the popular aesthetic of the Atomic Age, characterized by futuristic themes and space exploration. It features a unique shape and new materials, like fiberglass, which was innovative during the mid-20th century.
MEASUREMENTS: With the saucer shade in place, the lamp stands approx. 13" Hx 12"Dia.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition with very light wear that is commensurate with age and use. The fiberglass is free of rips, holes, tears, burn marks, repairs, etc.
