Vintage Mid-Century Mediterranean Textured Ceramic Urn Tripod Table Lamp
A wonderfully unusual vintage statement lamp combining sculptural textured ceramic, architectural metalwork, and an elegant three-legged tripod form. Dating approximately to the late 1960s–1970s, the lamp has a distinctive Mid-Century Mediterranean character with elements of Hollywood Regency and traditional decorator styling.
The centerpiece is an elongated warm ivory/beige ceramic urn, heavily textured across its surface and suspended dramatically within a tall metal tripod framework. Rather than resting on a conventional lamp base, the urn tapers downward to a softly rounded point, leaving open space beneath it and giving the lamp an almost floating, architectural quality.
Encircling the broad upper portion of the urn is an especially handsome pierced metal gallery composed of elaborate scrolling foliage and floral/acanthus-inspired motifs. The openwork construction allows the pale ceramic to remain visible through the metal ornament, creating wonderful depth and contrast.
The three-legged metal framework, pierced gallery, and circular lower stretcher have been refreshed in a rich oil-rubbed bronze finish. The deep bronze coloration emphasizes the sculptural metalwork while providing a sophisticated contrast against the warm neutral ceramic. The tripod measures approximately 15 inches high, approximately 8 inches across at the upper section and 11 inches across the feet, giving the lamp a slender yet substantial architectural stance.
Above the textured ceramic is the lamp’s original sculpted upper cap and neck in a slightly deeper warm beige/taupe tone. This subtle two-tone treatment adds another layer of dimension without competing with the dramatic metal framework.
Completing this first listing configuration is the lamp’s original vintage bell-form shade, measuring approximately 18 inches across the bottom, 8 inches across the top, and 12 inches high. Its warm aged beige/parchment coloration and gracefully flared profile are particularly well suited to the lamp and preserve its authentic period presentation. When illuminated, the vintage shade produces a wonderfully warm amber glow and emphasizes its subtle surface texture and paneled construction.
The lamp retains its substantial 1½-inch spherical ball finial, newly finished in coordinating oil-rubbed bronze. An 8-inch harp supports the shade, and the lamp is equipped with a three-way socket switch for adjustable illumination.
The lamp also retains its original amber-colored electrical cord. The wiring is cleverly routed internally through the lamp and tripod structure, with the cord emerging discreetly near the very bottom of one tripod leg for an exceptionally clean presentation.
From the bottom of the ceramic urn assembly to the base of the harp, the lamp measures approximately 16 inches. With its original shade and finial installed, the lamp has substantial visual presence while remaining narrow enough through the tripod base for use on a generous nightstand, console, end table, library table, or living-room side table.
What makes this piece particularly compelling is its combination of ornament and negative space. The suspended ceramic urn, open tripod, circular stretcher and pierced gallery allow light and surrounding furnishings to remain visible through the structure, preventing this substantial lamp from appearing visually heavy.
A distinctive example of late Mid-Century decorator lighting, this lamp would be particularly at home in Mediterranean Revival, Hollywood Regency, Traditional, Transitional, Organic Modern, Eclectic, Old World, Spanish Revival, or collected designer interiors. Its unusual construction makes it equally appealing as functional lighting and as a sculptural decorative object.

Condition Details This vintage lamp is in very good overall condition, presenting beautifully and retaining the character expected of a well-preserved period piece. The distinctive three-legged metal framework, including the pierced floral gallery and circular lower stretcher, has been carefully refinished in a deep oil-rubbed bronze finish. The renewed finish provides a rich, cohesive appearance while highlighting the intricate openwork detailing and architectural tripod construction. The textured two-tone ceramic urn is in very good vintage condition, retaining its warm ivory/beige coloration and distinctive dimensional surface. Minor variations and signs of age consistent with vintage construction may be present and are considered part of the lamp’s authentic character. The original vintage lampshade is included and remains in very good vintage condition. As an original period shade, it may display subtle age-related tonal variation or minor evidence of previous use, but it presents exceptionally well and complements the lamp beautifully. The lamp retains its original amber-colored cord, discreetly routed through the structure and exiting near the bottom of one tripod leg. It is fitted with a three-way socket switch, 8-inch harp, and substantial 1½-inch ball finial, with the finial refinished to coordinate with the oil-rubbed bronze metalwork. Overall, this is a remarkably well-presenting vintage statement lamp combining original period character with a thoughtfully refreshed metal finish. Any minor age-related variations are consistent with vintage use and do not detract from its decorative appeal.
