A monumental 25-inch wide low-slung campana-style tazza bowl planter featuring a beautifully molded gadrooned lower body and a sturdy fluted circular pedestal cast iron base.
Dimensions: 25” long, 15” across and 17” tall (including attached base)
The planter retains an incredibly beautiful, authentic weathered green painted finish accented by an aged, oxidized rust patina developed from decades of outdoor exposure.
Its classic Neoclassical/Victorian styling and generous proportions make it a commanding statement piece for a formal garden, patio, or entryway—perfect for displaying cascading florals, ferns, or structural plantings.
Heavily weighted, structurally sound, and beautifully timeworn.
Specific points of interest:
1. Multi cast Construction: Two-piece architectural construction featuring a hollow pedestal base. This one is a truly authentic period design assembled from separate foundry castings rather than a modern single-mold reproduction.
2. Drainage: Excellent integrated drainage via a large central drainage throat that channels water straight through the pedestal to prevent root rot or frost damage.
3. Foundry Style: no markings found however planter is created in the celebrated manner of 19th-century American foundries, for example J.W. Fiske & Co. and J.L. Mott Iron Works."
4. Hardware Stability: The original internal attachment assembly remains strong and fully functional, ensuring the bowl sits perfectly level and secure on its base.
5. Frost-Proof Material: Heavy, authentic cast iron construction provides far superior durability compared to reproduction composite materials, naturally withstanding freeze-thaw cycles without cracking.
6. Multi-Environment Ready: The stable, aged patina makes this piece fully prepared for immediate styling in either a classic outdoor garden landscape or an interior sunroom entryway."
