Used for centuries to … Read more This antique basket shows the decades of use in the worn handle and the interior patina. Used for centuries to gather rice from the field, this design was easy to carry and fill, with the tapered sides and arched handle. Made entirely of what is likely Chinese fir wood with a traditional tung oil finish, it has hand-cut joinery and the original iron nails and brackets, which is different than the brass that many have.

In excellent condition for its age, there are no repairs I can find and all brackets, nails and the handle are sturdy and in good condition. In today's world, it could be used for display, or to hold magazines, books, kindling, etc.
It measures 12.75" x 12.5" and measures 9" tall to the top of the handle. See less
