Large antique French work table dating from approximately 1750–1850, made of solid oak.
The table was originally used in a shop or workshop and has a long rectangular form supported by six turned oak legs. The panelled top is constructed from wide oak boards set within a framed border. One large drawer with a brass handle provides practical storage.
Several old workshop or inventory stamps are present on the table, including the date 1908. These later markings relate to its history and continued commercial use and are not considered the date of manufacture.
We have raised the table to a comfortable dining height, while retaining its original construction and character. with a length of almost three metres, it can now be used as a large dining table seating approximately 12–14 people. It is also suitable as a large shop display table, work table or kitchen table.
The oak shows wear consistent with its age and former use, including marks, scratches, colour variations and old repairs.
