These molds were used by model makers to create the negative space needed to create sand casting molds for metal casting.

The relief construction, with stacked elements assembled with visible screws, reveals the model maker's artisanal skill: every volume, every hole, and every chamfered corner was carefully crafted to ensure the mold would be properly extracted from the casting material. The oxidized lead-varnished surface, the marks of machining, and the patina of use testify to decades of industrial activity.

This is a unique and unrepeatable piece: original foundry molds from this period are increasingly rare, as most were lost or destroyed with the closure of the historic factories. Extraordinary patina.
