This extraordinary, nearly life-size motorcycle sculpture made of rattan, wicker, and bamboo is attributed to British designer Tom Dixon and was likely created in connection with his work for Habitat in the late 1990s.
The sculpture reinterprets the iconic form of a classic Harley-Davidson entirely using natural materials. The tank, wheels, fenders, seat, handlebars, headlight, engine block, exhaust system, and even the side bags have been recreated with remarkable detail using bent rattan, bamboo, and various types of wickerwork.
This motorcycle sculpture is in very good to excellent original condition. The rattan and wickerwork are exceptionally well preserved, showing only slight signs of age and use. This subtle patina underscores the authentic vintage character of the piece without detracting from its extraordinary overall impact.
Due to its dimensions and exceptionally three-dimensional execution, this Harley transcends the ordinary decorative object. It possesses the character of a design sculpture and an extraordinary statement piece, making it ideal for spacious living rooms, lofts, hotels, showrooms, concept stores, or exceptional interior design projects. from almost every angle, new handcrafted details and diverse weaving techniques are revealed.
Tom Dixon is one of the most internationally renowned British designers of his generation. He first gained recognition for his experimental work with metal and unconventional manufacturing techniques. This rare and exceptionally decorative collector's item, at the intersection of design, pop culture, traditional craftsmanship, and sculptural art, reflects this approach—undoubtedly an object that will instantly become a focal point in any interior. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
