A characterful set of four vintage stacking chairs manufactured by Kusch + Co in Germany during the 1970s. Each chair combines a molded plywood seat and separate gently curved backrest with a slender chrome-plated tubular steel frame. The rich dark-brown finish and pronounced natural grain of the wood contrast beautifully with the polished metal structure, while the four matching chairs create a particularly cohesive and graphic ensemble. The ergonomically shaped seats feature gentle curves and distinctive side cut-outs. A carefully engineered tubular steel structure beneath each seat provides stability while allowing the chairs to be conveniently stacked when not in use. Kusch + Co was an important German manufacturer of seating during the second half of the 20th century, particularly known for functional, high-quality furniture. These chairs reflect the principles of 1970s German modernist design through their practical construction, restrained geometry and timeless combination of materials. The set is particularly well suited to a dining table, conference room, office or hospitality setting. Their understated modernist character allows them to integrate beautifully into Mid-Century Modern, modernist, industrial and eclectic interiors. Presented in original vintage condition with minor wear, scratches and patina consistent with age and previous use. Slight variations in condition may occur between the individual chairs. Please refer to the detailed photographs for a clear impression of their condition.
