At the heart of the design is the lamp’s unusually generous approximately 15-inch-wide urn body. Its breadth is one of its most distinctive characteristics: this is not a narrow or elongated urn lamp, but a broad, substantial decorative form with considerable visual weight.

The body is constructed in two beautifully proportioned rounded sections. A broad domed upper section sweeps outward from the shoulder before meeting a shallower rounded lower section at the lamp’s equator. A narrow, brighter brass-toned metal band completely encircles the center, emphasizing the exceptional width of the urn and creating a crisp architectural counterpoint to the darker aged metal.
