This … Read more Up for sale is a fantastic oil on Masonite by well known and listed artist Peter Poskas (b 1939). This piece, excluding frame, measures 9 x 12 1/4 inch. Including fame it is approximately 13 x 17.5. The painting is titled "River Bend, Johnson's Farm (Woodbury, Connecticut) and was painted in 2002.

Poskas lives in Connecticut and is a well known artist with pieces in collections and museums around the world. Born in 1939, he is best known for his New England landscapes. About this piece he said, "This is a scene painted on my son's farm looking west onto the hayfields of the Bauch farm. The Weekeepeemee River flows in the foreground under the lingering sun of the early evening. This work was painted in the winter, late in the afternoon. I am always inspired by the lighting effects of the late-day sun on snow."

The painting is signed lower right and it looks like on reverse. It comes with extensive material from the Spanierman Gallery in New York where it was originally sold. Included are letters from gallery to previous owner, a write up on the painting in a binding with this piece's title embossed on the front. Overall no condition issues to painting. Some minor scratching to the frame. See less
