289 pages with 1000+ illustrations, including 106 plates in full color by Louis Agassiz Fuertes based on the Fuertes collection at the New York state Museum. Other artists include R. I. Brasher , R. Bruce Horsfall , and Henry Thurston.
The book combines the best scholarship and the best art of the time. Pearson was President of the National Association of Audubon Societies. Contributors included the leading ornithologists of the day. The detail for each bird both in the text and in the illustrations is extensive; the book includes a full index for easy reference.
This copy is in very good condition, especially considering size, weight and age -- more specific notes on condition are included.

The boards themselves are clean and bright (cream color with 2 geese in flight; green spine with gold title). This is a large, heavy book (7 lbs) in very solid, tight condition. less
