About the Artwork:
This striking, original mid-century watercolor painting masterfully captures a sweeping rural landscape as golden sun rays pierce through deep, atmospheric storm clouds over a distant farmstead. Painted using a highly skilled wet-on-wet watercolor technique on professional Crescent Water Color Board (No. 112 Rough), the piece showcases stunning texture and an exceptional interplay between light and deep silhouette. The artwork is signed H. Allen Gore in red in the lower left corner.
About the Artist & Provenance:H. Allen Gore (1924–1999) was a noted 20th-century American regionalist artist and illustrator. Professionally, he served as a Senior Design Illustrator for the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. Outside of his commercial design career, he was a celebrated landscape watercolorist who actively exhibited across Western New York, including holding a prominent one-man solo show in 1971. The reverse side of the mount retains excellent, clear historical provenance, featuring the artist's original handwritten home and studio address stamp: "H. Allen Gore, 601 Fishell Rd, Rush, N.Y. 14543" alongside the vintage manufacturer stamp from the Crescent Cardboard Company.
This piece has verified provenance. The artwork retains its original matting, and the listing includes the original frame backing board featuring the artist's hand-written notation: "Artist — 1967, H. Allen Gore, 601 Fishell Rd., Rush, N.Y. 14543." This confirms the exact year of creation as 1967.
