Charming custom-framed display featuring the complete 1979 British “Year of the Child” commemorative stamp set, celebrating four classics of children’s literature.
The set includes:
* The Tale of Peter Rabbit – 9p
* The Wind in the Willows – 10½p
* Winnie-the-Pooh – 11p
* Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – 13p
Issued in Great Britain on July 11, 1979 as part of the Commemorative International Year of the Child, the four-stamp series was designed by Edward Hughes and printed by Harrison & Sons Ltd.
The stamps are presented in a balanced 2x2 arrangement with individual dark teal mat openings set within a larger pale celadon-green mat. The display is housed in a warm wood frame with gilt trim and is ready to hang.
The back retains a label from James Frames, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, indicating professional custom framing.
A wonderful decorative piece for a nursery, child’s room, reading nook, home library, guest room, or traditional English-inspired interior. It would also make a thoughtful gift for a collector of children’s literature, British ephemera, vintage stamps, or classic storybook art.
