The design was created in collaboration with Alberto Meda, and the Italian's engineering background is evident in the base: four tapered, chrome-plated legs extend from the tabletop to a slender base and rest on flat feet—no further construction is needed. The round, light-colored natural wood tabletop with its fine grain sits on it as if by itself, its narrow edge making it appear thinner than it actually is. It is precisely this understated design that makes the table so versatile. It works as a meeting table in the office and as a dining table in the living room—in both cases, the round shape ensures that everyone sits equally and no one ends up at the head of the table. Vitra builds such modular furniture for contract use, meaning that the construction is designed for decades of daily use.
