Antique French stone trough or sink, originating from the Puy-de-Dôme region in the Auvergne, central France.
The basin is carved from a single solid block of local volcanic stone and has thick walls measuring approximately 6–7 cm. A small hole in one of the side walls was most likely used as a drain or overflow.
The stone has a naturally rough and weathered surface with irregularities, marks and wear consistent with its age and former use. Its compact proportions make it suitable for use as a small garden water basin, planter, fountain basin or as an architectural element.
