The main field is in an ivory color with a central medallion in navy or midnight blue with the corner spandrels in pale burgundy. The rug has accent colors in burgundy, navy, pale yellow, green, and ivory. The major or primary border is in an ivory color with flower design throughout and the secondary or minor border in navy blue. There is a central medallion in red, pink, ivory and pale blue colors with floral designs. The village of Kerman is located at the edge of the great desert in SE Persia and was on the ancient silk road. It is known for some of the most beautiful and colorful rugs that were woven in Persia. The weavers used the color and flower designs in rugs to bring some color and nature’s beauty to the dry desert environment that they lived in. Ideal piece as a wall hanging art or tapestry art.
