A stepped lozenge medallion anchors the composition, adorned with cross motifs and the symbolic Tree of Life floral patterns that have been woven into Joshegan textiles since the tradition began in the 17th century. Joshegan — the village that gave its name to one of the oldest continuous carpet weaving traditions in Persia — is celebrated for its distinctive diamond lattice design, which has remained remarkably consistent across centuries of production. This early 20th century example represents the tradition in its fully mature, refined form — a piece of genuine historical and decorative significance.
