Malayer rugs, woven in the villages of Western Persia, are celebrated for their durable construction, distinct geometric patterns, and unique use of camelhair, which gives them a beautiful, naturalistic quality. This captivating rug features a classic and commanding central medallion in a bold geometric pattern. The elongated medallion, rendered in a striking combination of deep navy blue and creamy ivory, is beautifully set against an open, natural camelhair background. The luminous camelhair field allows the medallion to be a strong focal point, while the wool's natural variations add to the rug's authenticity and character. The corners of the field are adorned with charming rust red spandrels, featuring geometric designs in complementary shades of blue and yellow. The entire composition is elegantly framed by a great border, also in a warm rust red, which perfectly ties the rug's palette together.
