19th Century Danish Folk Art Portrait of Young Girl in Red Dress with Pearl Necklace

Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age. Scuffs and scratches along the frame. Repair on the upper left side of the frame. Loss of inset trim work along the bottom left and right. Hanging wire attached to top. Contemporary hanging wire attached en verso, likely due to frame repair. Please refer to photos for details.

Inscriptions: Handwritten note en verso in Danish. Translation: "Marie Klein, Daughter of [Mr./Hel?] [Baker/Tailor?] Klein. Died quite young, around 1850."

Oil on board. Three-quarter portrait of a young girl wearing a pearl necklace and a red dress with black polkadots. Housed in a gilt frame. An inscription en verso identifies the sitter as Marie Klein, who died young circa 1850. 14.4 x 15.4 inches.
