This delicate pencil stretch, “Study”, by Daisuke Takeya compellingly presents the duality of the artist’s Japanese childhood and adult life in north America. Her tradition of Japanese graphics has intersected with her classical European training especially at the New York Academy of Art to produce a uniquely exotic aura for the female nude lower torso. Done in 1995 in New York City.
Now based in Toronto, Daisuke Takeya continues her exploration of nature and plausibility in contemporary society, as is so fundamentally messaged in this simple live drawing.
Pencil drawing on paper is 6 inches x 8 inches.
The drawing is set in acid-free matting and framed in a "distressed" classical wood frame in black with gilded egg and dart moulding.
The framed piece is 18 inches x 22 inches and ready for hanging.
