A winding country road leads through a rural village of cottages and bare trees toward a distant church steeple, while pools of water reflect the warm golden light of the evening sky.

The painting has a wonderfully moody palette of deep greens, browns and charcoal tones contrasted by soft gold, peach and coral in the sunset. Signed by the artist at the lower right.

Presented in its substantial vintage wood frame featuring a dark distressed finish, wide cream-colored liner and narrow gilt inner border. The frame shows visible age-related wear, rubbing and areas of finish loss that contribute to its vintage character.

The exposed back and construction are also consistent with an older decorative painting.
