Up for your consideration is a beautiful, intimate antique 1920s Dutch interior genre scene oil painting on canvas. Painted by the listed European artist M. Fenneker, this piece is an exquisite, high-quality vintage copy after the 17th-century Old Master work by Pieter de Hooch ("A Woman Reading a Letter with a Child in a Cradle").
The composition features a moody, atmospheric candlelit or window-lit room where a woman in a vibrant red jacket sits in a rush-bottom chair reading. Nearby, a heavily draped hooded cradle rests next to a small table with a bowl of fruit. The lower right corner bears the painted inscription attribution to P. de Hooch, true to the master-copy tradition of the early 20th century.
The painting is housed in its spectacular, authentic original wood frame featuring a classic Dutch style ebonized black inner molding and an elegant gold gilt outer frame. A perfect focal piece for Dark Academia, Traditional, or European Art collectors!

As shown in the detailed close-up photos, there is minor vintage paint loss present: one small pinpoint flake near the seated woman's skirt and a few small, scattered flecks of flaking paint loss along the craquelure lines in the lower right foreground near the cradle. These minor imperfections are typical for an oil painting of this era and do not detract from the beauty of the scene. * Frame: The ebonized black and gold gilt wood frame is sturdy and complete, showing minor, appropriate vintage rubbing to the gilt edges and corners consistent with age. It retains its original hanging wire on the back and is ready to hang. Please review all high-definition photos carefully as they serve as the ultimate description of the cosmetic condition. less
