Vintage cast-brass Gothic Revival monastery bell. The winged figure, dragon/serpent ornament, horizontal pull mechanism, and chain are characteristic of this style.
A very close example is described as having the Latin inscription “QUI ME TANGIT VOCEM MEAM AUDIT,” meaning roughly “Whoever touches me hears my voice.” These were made in the tradition of monastery or church entrance/sacristy bells, although many surviving examples appear to be 20th-century decorative versions rather than bells actually removed from a medieval monastery.
