Sacks & Sons in Brookline, MA in the mid 1950s.

With all six of its original leaf inserts still present, the table expands from a 62 inch oval to a 128 inch racetrack, accommodating 10-12 guests as needed.

The extension slides open and close with an integrated gear mechanism that automatically centers the middle leg assembly. The leaves still fit together seamlessly despite seven decades of regular use, without a hint of sagging or bowing even at full length.

The recessed apron on the main table makes the table compatible with armchairs of almost any height. The leaves have no apron, making them easy to store when they aren’t needed. With minimal effort the table expands from a practical daily size to one that accommodates a holiday banquet.

A museum quality example of one of McCobb's finest designs. Pieces like this are the reason the phrase “they don’t make them like they used to” exists.
