Standing approximately 28 inches tall, the piece is designed to hang vertically against the wall rather than stand freestanding. Individually formed metal roses, lily-like blossoms, smaller flowers, ivy and layered foliage are arranged on wired stems to create an unusually full and sculptural botanical composition.

The flowers retain softly faded shades of cream, muted pink and yellow surrounded by layers of deep and variegated green leaves. At the base, a dimensional metal urn is embellished with graceful scrolling wirework terminating in small floral details.

The reverse reveals the fascinating construction of the piece, with individual floral and foliage elements wired to a central metal framework.

The original painted surface has been left exactly as found. Decades of age have produced extensive chipping, paint loss, oxidation, discoloration, surface rust and exposed metal, creating the beautifully timeworn character that makes this piece so visually compelling. It has not been repainted or restored.

With its dramatic vertical proportions and wonderful aged surface, this would make a distinctive statement above a console, between windows, in an entryway, garden room, powder room or as part of a collected gallery wall.

No maker’s mark or country-of-origin mark has been identified, so no specific maker or national attribution is being made.
