Antique Lavar (Laver/Ravar) Kermans are finely woven Persian carpets produced in the late 19th to early 20th century in and around the village of Ravar (often called Lavar or Laver in the West), north of the city of Kerman in southeastern Iran.
They are prized for their exceptionally fine weave (often high knot counts), soft short wool pile on One big advantage about this beauty, most of the Lavar kirmans come with a center medallion, to find one with all-over patten like this, is a very difficult task. Also, it has an unusual pattern, never seen this before, coud be the one & only. cotton foundation, elegant curvilinear floral designs (medallions, all-over patterns, or pictorial scenes), refined drawing, and luminous colors ranging from soft pastels and ivories to richer reds and blues. Many represent some of the highest-quality city weaving of the Qajar period and are considered among the most sophisticated and decorative of classic Persian rugs.
