Handcrafted in Vail, Colorado, using antique pine sourced from Germany, the bed features substantial carved wood detailing, sculptural turned posts and beautifully executed scrollwork highlighted with a contrasting darker stain. The footboard incorporates extensive custom iron scrollwork, creating a striking complement to the carved antique pine.

Menzel was known in Vail for his distinctive Bavarian-inspired craftsmanship and his use of reclaimed antique pine from Alpine farmhouses. His custom woodwork can be found in notable residences and properties throughout the world.

This substantial king bed is a true statement piece, combining Old World European character with handcrafted artisan construction. The natural knots, grain variations and patina of the antique pine contribute to its warmth and distinctive character.

The bed was commissioned directly from Dieter Menzel and has remained with the original owner since new.

Currently disassembled, carefully wrapped and stored following a move. Photographs show the bed fully assembled prior to storage.
