A remarkable Brutalist coffee table dating from the 1970s, crafted in South Africa and attributed to the influential Dutch designer Paul Kingma. Featuring a handcrafted mosaic top composed of natural slate and stone with metallic inlays, this exceptional piece embodies the bold, sculptural aesthetic that made Kingma’s work so highly regarded.
The richly textured tabletop displays an intricate arrangement of geometric stonework, creating a unique one-of-a-kind composition. Resting on a sturdy timber base, the table is both practical and visually striking, making it an ideal centrepiece for a living room or a standout addition to any mid-century modern, Brutalist, or contemporary interior.
While attributed to Paul Kingma due to its distinctive design and craftsmanship, the table bears no maker’s signature or label. Similar pieces were produced in South Africa during the 1970s and are now highly sought after by collectors for their exceptional quality and timeless appeal.
