This high-quality sideboard from the Nic. Eckel furniture factory in Kaiserslautern dates from around 1900–1910 and combines elements of late Historicism with the emerging Art Nouveau style. Material & Finish

Made of solid hardwood with a high-quality veneer and a warm honey-brown patina. All fittings are made of brass and harmonize beautifully with the finely carved ornamental moldings. The upper doors feature decorative inserts of green textured glass, giving the piece a distinctive character.

The upper section is attached using original wooden dowels and can be easily separated from the lower section for transport or setup.

Function & Features

This sideboard impresses with its exceptionally well-designed interior layout. Behind the lower doors is ample storage space with a shelf. Above are two drawers for cutlery or smaller items. Two additional lockable cabinets in the upper section provide extra storage.

The pull-out worktops on both sides are particularly practical, significantly expanding the usable work surface and retracting completely when needed. All cabinet elements are lockable. Two matching keys are included.

Condition

Very beautiful, well-maintained original condition with age-appropriate patina. The piece shows only slight signs of use and age. All doors, drawers, and the two pull-out worktops function perfectly. The locks are functional, and two original keys are included. The green textured glass is completely intact.

Classification

This sideboard is stylistically related to German Art Nouveau with influences of late Historicism and was most likely made between 1900 and 1910. The geometric carved moldings, the linear design, and the decorative glass inserts are particularly typical characteristics of high-quality German furniture from this period.
