Part of a broader family that began with the Omega pendant, these impressive flush mounts stand out for their architectural clarity and atmospheric presence. Their structure combines a white-painted aluminium frame with a domed opaline glass shade and a distinctive inner glass sphere diffuser, an ingenious detail that softens and disperses the light with exceptional subtlety. When lit, the lamps emit a beautifully diffused glow, enveloping the space in a warm, sophisticated ambiance. Magistretti’s Omega series was so successful that Artemide extended it in 1967 with a wall-mounted version, reinterpreting the same poetic diffuser concept that had made the original pendant such a triumph. The examples presented here are the largest version produced, remarkable both for their scale and for their sculptural purity. Each lamp remains in very good original condition, with the glass perfectly preserved and the finish maintaining its elegant matte sheen. The Omega lamps encapsulate Magistretti’s philosophy of functional beauty, an approach that would define his prolific career. His designs for Artemide, Cassina, and Kartell reflect a deep understanding of proportion, light, and material honesty.
