A unique, antique ceramic bird feeder or waterer, shaped like a stylized bird. The object is functional yet features an exceptionally decorative, folk-art style.
This piece is made of thick-walled ceramic, covered with a distinctive brown-honey glaze. The design consists of a tall body with a lid topped by a conical handle. At the front is an opening finished with a distinctive, molded element in the shape of a bird’s head and beak, allowing access to the interior.
The object has retained its original surface with a beautiful patina of age. Visible are natural wear, minor glaze chips, discoloration, and deposits and traces of long-term use. The bottom is left unglazed.
The form, craftsmanship, and nature of the glaze point to Central Europe—likely Germany, the Czech Republic, or Austria.
