On the outside, a clearly defined frame with straight edges and a sharply defined silhouette; on the inside, plump, softly filled cushions that immediately soften this austerity. The design comes from Böttcher & Kayser, and the real trick lies in the frame: The black steel runners are significantly recessed inwards and taper to a narrow point, making the solid body appear almost weightless above the floor. The 133 is manufactured at the Rolf Benz plant in Mötzingen, on the edge of the Black Forest. The seating comfort plays the same game: The 133 is designed for upright sitting—yet it feels as soft as if you were stretching out. This is made possible by the graduated upholstery construction, in which the back cushions are significantly softer than the seat cushions. Since this is a new upholstery in Astera 318 fabric, you benefit from a visually and hygienically pristine condition, offering the seating experience of a brand-new piece of furniture.
