A rare h.500 lamp base, designed by norwegian glass designer severin brørby for hadeland glassverk and marketed by høvik verk in the hadeland series, launched in norway in 1967.
the monumental body in green blown glass features a succession of volumes and thick sections of glass that produce remarkable effects of depth and transparency. The exterior surface remains perfectly smooth, while the variations in glass thickness give the lamp its characteristic architecture.
the h.500 model is precisely documented in the 1967 høvik/hadeland catalog, where it appears under the designation "h.500 green," alongside designs by willy johansson and benny motzfeldt. This series was a particularly ambitious range for høvik at the time, closely linked to hadeland glassverk's art glass production.
this particular lamp is signed with a stylus on the underside of the base. The h.500 model appears in the catalog with various lampshades, as shown in the illustrations, notably references no. 171 and no. 173. The lampshades were selected by the designers and sold separately. The lampshade visible in some photographs in this listing is for illustrative purposes only and is not included in the sale.
the h.500 appears to be particularly rare on the market today.
