A one of a kind vintage piece for a nursery, playroom, or entryway! It also makes an excellent display piece for photographers, interior stylists, or home stagers.
This wooden rocking horse is hand carved and hand painted, with glass eyes and a warm finish that allows the natural grain of the wood to remain visible. The carved mane and tail have deep, expressive texture, and the original horsehair tail is still intact.
The bridle is painted in a striking red cross-strap pattern, while black scroll-work decorates the neck and hindquarters around painted rosette medallions. The standout feature is the pair of hand-painted pastoral scenes on the belly boards. Each depicts a quiet landscape with trees, fencing, and open sky. Although the compositions are nearly identical, small differences in the brushwork reveal they were painted by hand rather than produced with a stencil. Those little variations give the horse its own character.
