Dramatic watercolor painting from 1945 illustrating the cruelty of WW II. During World War II, the Oßweil district and the broader Ludwigsburg area served as a major military garrison. The zone housed military barracks, logistics units, and Stalag V-A, a major prisoner-of-war camp active from 1939 to 1945 that held Allied prisoners and brutally mistreated Soviet captives.
Stalag V-A: Located on the southern outskirts of Ludwigsburg, the POW camp processed thousands of prisoners of war. While Western Allied prisoners experienced relatively regulated conditions, Soviet prisoners faced severe overcrowding, starvation, and targeted executions by the Gestapo.
The watercolor painting has been exceptionally preserved and is 12" x 17". It is not laminated. Held to backing with two peices of tape.
