Elegant French Art Deco sculpture depicting an archer, titled “L’ARCHER”, after Jean de Roncourt, made in France circa 1930s.
The composition captures an athletic male figure in the dynamic act of drawing his bow, a subject closely associated with the Art Deco fascination with movement, strength and the idealized human form.
The figure is crafted from metal with a rich bronze-colored patina and stands on a geometric marble base. The bow is made of Bakelite, a material particularly characteristic of the Art Deco period.
The elongated lines of the figure, combined with the strong geometry of the marble base, give the sculpture a striking decorative presence and a distinctly French Art Deco character.
The piece shows some signs of wear and variations to the patina consistent with its age and period, preserving its authentic vintage character.
