The open back is divided by decorative panels featuring classical urn and floral motifs, with additional bronze ornament running across the crest rail and front apron.

The most striking detail is the pair of sculptural swan-form arm supports, one of the most recognizable motifs of the Empire period and closely associated with Empress Joséphine and the decorative vocabulary of Napoleonic France. Graceful proportions, long sweeping arms, tapered legs and the contrast of warm mahogany against the gilt brass decoration give the piece an architectural yet surprisingly light appearance.

Fully restored to bring back the depth and glow of the mahogany while preserving its historic character. The striped cream and golden upholstery complements the warmth of the wood and classical ornament beautifully.

A rare statement piece with more than two centuries of history — equally striking in an entry, living room, library.
