An elegant Art Deco bronze sculpture depicting the iconic model "Femme à la Draperie", signed by the renowned sculptor Demétre H. Chiparus (1886-1947), one of the leading figures of the Art Deco movement.
The sculpture portrays a graceful female dancer captured in a dynamic, theatrical pose, kneeling with one leg fully extended while a richly textured geometric drapery flows dramatically behind her. The composition perfectly embodies the fascination with movement, elegance and exoticism that made Chiparus one of the most celebrated sculptors of the 1920s.
Executed in bronze with a nuanced green patina, the figure is mounted on a black marble base and signed "Chiparus".
The model is documented under the French title "Femme à la Draperie" and is generally dated to circa 1928.
