Rubins’s paintings evoke nostalgia for classical, romantic scenes and periods, an art that is about imagination, history and emotion. His paintings represent his ongoing research into the different ways of applying and understanding painting. They are reinterpretations of paintings and drawings by the Old Masters and of European painters from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Rubins lives and works in Alp, a small mountain village in the Spanish Pyrenees.
He is classically trained in the techniques of the Old Masters, and yet he has remained the street painter he was at the beginning of his painting career in Barcelona.
