I know that wooden red apples are often added to the piece but gosh, it looks great with nothing on it! This hand-carved wooden candlestick holder, expertly crafted from natural beech wood. This beautifully detailed design features an intricate rustic pattern, five candle holders, and dangling decorative accents, making it a stunning centerpiece for your holiday dining table, mantel, or living space.

This distinct style originated in the parish of Urshult, located within Småland, Sweden—a region famous for its historic apple orchards. The original prototype was crafted in 1833 by a hussar and craftsman named Adam Creutz as a holiday gift for his brother. It features a lathed, fluted central spindle acting as a trunk, capped with a stylized finial or star. The lower base splits into a multiple-armed wooden candelabra (typically 4 or 5 arms) carved to hold taper candles. The plain, tapered wooden dowels or peg arms protruding from the trunk are intentionally designed to skewers small red decorative wooden apples (or real crabapples).
The design honors the legendary local story of a near 150-year-old apple tree that uniquely bore fruit just in time for the winter holiday season. In Scandinavian folk art, the combination of evergreen-styled candle holders, light, and red winter apples represents warmth, light, and abundance through the dark winter months.
