It is an authentic folk sculpture with a distinct sacred character, preserved with its original polychrome paint and a beautiful, natural patina developed over decades of use.

The Madonna is depicted wearing a crown with an openwork Gothic motif, holding the Infant Jesus on her lap. The composition is characterized by the simplicity and expressiveness typical of traditional Central European folk craftsmanship. Visible traces of the chisel and hand-carving emphasize the unique character of the work.

The figure was carved from a single linden wood log, with the natural grain of the base left intact. The original polychrome, despite wear and losses resulting from its age, has retained its authentic character and represents significant collector’s value.

Condition: Very good, original vintage condition. Natural signs of use, wear on the polychrome, minor cracks in the wood, and a patina consistent with the object’s age. No modern repainting.
