Baroque candle holder in wood and plaster, painted and lacquered, 17th century. Spain.
This piece features unique carvings; we can see the side handles shaped like two caryatids, while the base and top feature mascaron decorations typical of Baroque noble craftsmanship. The central part features the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Castile and León, characterized by the quartering of the castle with three golden towers on a red background and the rampant lion. The structure is made of a mix of materials, specifically wood and plaster, lacquered in red with gold details.
