An intimate original oil painting featuring an interesting collection of vintage objects: a vivid cinnabar-red box, antique boxes, scattered buttons, a luminous shell, and a small cloth pouch arranged against a deep, dark background.
The composition reflects earlier realist work by the artist Robbie Namy, reflecting an interest in the dramatic play of light and dark. Warm earth tones and rich red accent contrast with the pearly shell and pale tabletop, giving this traditional still life a distinctive, slightly eclectic character. Victorians used shells in painting for their luminosity.
Painted in 1999 and signed at lower right. Presented in its original warm gold-toned frame, which complements the painting beautifully. A wonderful small-scale piece for a study, library, bedroom, entryway, or collected gallery wall.
