Executed in ink on gold silk with restrained use of mineral pigments, the composition unfolds through layered mountains, winding paths, rustic dwellings, and distant figures, inviting the viewer into a serene and imagined landscape. The accompanying inscription, which reads "Light Body Mountain at Nanka," reinforces the poetic character of the work, while the seal reading Mantoku identifies the artist or studio. Finished with black lacquer trim, pewter mounts, and a silk brocade border, the screen exemplifies the quiet elegance and refined brushwork that distinguished Japanese landscape painting of the late nineteenth century.
