Strinking mid-century oil original oil on canvas by aclaimed Japanese Artist Hideli Hanaabusa (1913-2001), also Known as Noh Hideki, depicting a Japanese Noh theater performer in ceremonial costume.
The compposition features a knbeeling maksed performoer rendered in layered whites adn muted earth tones against a richly textured ochre and blue-grey background.
Hanabusa became particularly known for painting inspired by Japan's classical performing arts, including Noh, Kabuki, and Bunraku theater.
The painting bears the artist's distinctive momgram/signature at the lower right and is presented in its substantial period wood frame with an inset antiqued-gold inner molding.
The combination of the restrained palette, expressive brushwork, and architectural framing gives the work a particulaarly strong Mid-Century Modern presence.
Hanabusa's work is represented in Japanese institutional collections, includint the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo which holds his 1961 oil painting The Noh Dance "Futari Shizuka"
